Compact Strand Wire - 6mm

Compact strand wire shares the same basic construction as 1x19 wire, however the wires are compacted via a cold deformation process which reduces the diameter of the wire by passing through a die or rollers. This process increases the metallic cross section of the strand, extends the area of contact between the wires and makes the surface of the strand smoother and more regular. Compact strand wire is stronger than conventional 1x19 wire and has less stretch. A special process is necessary to swage compact strand wire and mechanical terminals require specific cones or wedges. Used for standing rigging for high-performance yachts and dinghies.
